Party like its 1982! DeTRoiT puNK rOcK HisTORy rEPEatS iTSelF with the CD, digital down-load and vinyl re-releases of the long out-of-print but often (and internationally) traded seminal Detroit pop-punk 45 Hyperactive/Individual by the Projections (released with bonus tracks - seven tracks total).
From the band:
We are the Projections -- Mario Micheli (bass, vocals and littering), Tony Samuels (drums) and Johnny Spark (known outside of Detroit music circles as John Micheli, guitars, vocals and attitude) -- a punk/power pop/detroit/garage band formed in Detroit in the early 80s. Our honorary members include John Mazzei (guitar, vocals), Dom Micheli (drums and (back in the day) under-aged live and studio drummer extraordinaire), and Pete DiMasico (guitar, vocals).
We pooled our money a few times to record our 45 with Denny Forbes (later of the Forbes Brothers) in March of 1982 and again with Pete Bankert (Mugsy, Weapons and overall Detroit recording legend) but mostly got by with 3 for $1 cassettes recorded live on various tattered boom boxes. Our live shows included Paychecks and The Red Carpet. We also enjoyed some radio attention (special thanks to Cleveland State University - R.I.P. Hagar) and cool record reviews in the Detroit papers and the Metro Times. We were later included in Henry Weld's punk rock record collectors' online opus Collectors Scum (
www.collectorscum.com/volume3/michigan). In recent years our 45 rpm single Hyperactive/Individual has sold on eBay a number times - no doubt due the profound impact it has had on the universe - musical and otherwise lol. No wonder it has sold so often in "mint" condition - ya don't mess with Texas or the Projections.
